CLAYMATION

I was keen to run an animation course with KS2/3 pupils as part of the Saturday Master Classes I was in charge of at my school. I found that animation software for Windows based computers was very rare as either it was dedicated to producing traditional cell cartoons (Drawing individual pictures) or was far too expensive for us to justify. After a lot of searching I found the SMA Animator program which is a simple way to take lots of snapshots from any webcam or digital camera, and mash them, compressed, into a film.

I taught two classes this technique, and have also used it in a peer tutoring exercise and trained other staff as its highly popular with pupils and very quick.
