TEXTURE LINKS

Graphic work often needs source textures. Here are some links to dependable texture libraries I have found useful on the net. There are actually thousands of free texture libraries on the net but these should be suitable for use with pupils in class.

Mayangs Free Textures:
3000 high quality, high resolution (1600 x 1200 pixels) textures in a good range. Categorised and dependable. The full set of textures can be bought on a single CD if required. There is a limit of 20 textures per day to a particular IP address so you may need to plan if you need a large number or want a class to browse

3D Total.com
A site specialising in seamless textures which though small in size, are used in programs which tile them to create a larger wrapping texture, to the scale you require. If you use 3D programs, this is ideal. The above link takes you to the main page, click the 'free stuff' icon on the top left menu to access the textures.

Texturebin
A range of free photographs from Travis Price focussing on textured surfaces. For example, a wide variety of stone textures. You would probably have to edit the photos to use them in programs but they would be great for moodboards.

Noctua Graphics
Serious set of tileable textures. Resonable resolution, mostly 512 x 512 pixels, but being tileable, actually much higher in use. Split into directories with thumbnails, but also each directory downloadable as a zip file. Good for pupils as what is there is tightly focussed and stops them wasting time on trawling huge numbers of directories

Pixelperfect.com
Good range of textures in galleries. This link goes directly to the fabrics textures gallery. mostly 1024 x 768 pixels.
